AUSTRALIAN ROYAL PALM
The Australian Royal Palm was introduced in Rio de Janeiro in 1808 as an ornamental plant and spread throughout the country.
In the 1980s, Brazil was the largest exporter of hearts of palm, using the JUCARA palm tree, which is native to the Atlantic Forest. As it was an environmentally harmful practice, the Brazilian government banned the activity.
Currently, wild palm harvesting for heart of palm production no longer exists in Brazil. Production has now been carried out by cultivating palm trees, including the Australian Royal Palm, developed from stocks found in parks in the south of the country.
This premium product is enjoyed worldwide, and Brazil has once again become the leading producer, consumer, and exporter of hearts of palm, all while preserving nature’s balance.
A versatile delicacy, it can be enjoyed on its own, sautéed, in salads, on pizzas, in fillings, and more!
Don’t miss out on this experience!
